Just bit more on scroll saw buying.

This weeK I took delivery of my new Trupro Scroll Saw from Carrolls. Unfortunately the Hegna clamps didn't arrive with the saw. (Lost in delivery and no fault of Jim Carrolls service.)

I set the saw up on my prepared stand. I had a problem with one of the fastening holes that was right under the motor. (This was over come) and the saw was ready for work.

I was very pleasanty pleased with how well the saw ran with almost zero vibration. What a change from the other four saws I have owned.

However I became quite frustrated with the supplied clamps as I just didn't seem to be able to get the top clamp to sit in properly. After struggling to get it placed I found that the saw worked far better than all expentations.

I have now recived the Hegna clamps and they are the ants pants. Although they are a bit expensive they are made for quick accurate clamping. They are a must with this saw.

Unfortunately my foot switch doesn't work very well on the saw. Reason is that the saw's switch is the safty type and goes to off when there is no power. So I have to press the foot switch then press the saws switch to get it going.

Also the Asian instructions don't make mention of lubrication. A mechnic friend has told me that oil droped onto the rocker bearings will do the job

I now have a saw that is worth while using.

I feel for those scrollers who are working on a hobby that this saw is all that is needed. The price is very acceptable. If you have a lot of $ or are in bussiness then pehaps extra dollars can be justified. I don't need a saw that swivells to any great extent and I don't need heaps of storage for blades as I have my own that are up front and very accesable.

I now have a low cost Hegna copy (clamps and delivery) and as far as I can see from magazines and books that Hegna is the saw of choice.
