    Red face Trupro scrollsaw

Gday ! This is my first post ( well actually the 2nd...I posted the last one in the wrong place...sorry!) and I would like to say hello to everyone ! I am thinking of updating my saw from a Delta to a Trupro. Does anyone have any experience with these ? Thank you

    Welcome to the forum

I've never heard of TruPro saw.... can you tell us a little more about it?
I have a Delta myself and am fairly happy with it... good little workhorse once you fix it up to your liking. It's a bummer they aren't sending them over here anymore.... so finding out all we can about other saws is extra important now.

Gday Juvy. The Trupro is sold through Carroll's Woodcraft. I have done as much research on it as I can but cant find out much about it. It would seem to be a pretty good saw but I am keen to find someone who has actually used it. I see that Carroll's are going to be selling the Excalibur soon as well.

It looks to be similar to a Hegner copy, if so check out WMS, Mik International and Harris Traders who seem to have similar copies, and cheaper I think!!!
I have a WMS, early last year purchase, prices have come down since I bought. Very satisfied but I was only using a Sherwood before AND I am only quite new to scrolling so don't pretend to be able to give advice. In our small scrollsaw club there are now three WMS's.

    Hope it helps,
    Bob H.

Saw the WMS at work at last years Albury/Wodonga Scroll Saw Weekend. Two people bought one from Harris Traders and both are very happy with them. I haven't actually used one yet myself tho.
Now that Delta won't send saws over here anymore seems that maybe the WMS is going to have to fill that void.... don't think there is another saw in the Delta price range that gives the same performance.

The bad thing is that with a saw I'd really like to try it out before buying... can't do that when buying from websites.... don't like what Bunnings has ... so the only other place is somethign like the Scroll Saw Weekend when people bring their saws. Last year there were the Deltas, Hegners, WMS and a Dewalt.
Heard really good things about the Excalibur from the US forums, but it's expensive!

Just wish someone would offer one under $400.... one that works as well as the Delta.

I had a look at the photos of the Trupro and the WMS & they appear to be the same saws...just different names. Weird, eh ? The WMS web site says the saw is the smoothest they have ever sold. Carroll's has it cheaper.

I have had contact with Carba Tec Brisbane. They have the Hegna look alike in stock up there. Not in branches as yet due to it being so new to them. Price is $499. Not yet on their web sight but will be in their new catalogue.

They should have more info by the end of Jauary

Looks like there might be a lot of activity with this new saw. Every thing seems to be coming through that it is a good saw.

I'm just waiting to see what happens and then I will be buying one

By the way my 18 month old delta will then be on the market. It's a better saw now than when I bought it having been tuned up to where it should have been from the factory

Oh but I think I'd wait until Carolls offers the Excalibur..... would love to try one out. If anyone from Carolls is reading this.... how about bringing one down to the woodshow in Albury/Wodonga? If not in March.. how about to the scroll saw weekend in August? Most of us would much rather try a new saw out then bying blind. For that matter hmmm.... how about letting me have a lend of one so I can tell people if it's good?

Yes, the WMS has gotten a lot of good reviews, I just hope that the new ones are going to be the same quality.... not like with the Delta... good saw until they started making them in China.

So your "old" one should still be one of the good ones.... good spare one if nothing else... wouldn't mind having an extra one... at least there woudln't be a learning curve....

Juvy if you want to have a look at the Trupro and the Excalibur we will have them at the Goulburn Valley Woodworkers show in March 8-9th at shepparton.
Also at Bendigo at Easter and Ballarat Woodworkers Guild show April 12-13th.

We have also been invited to the Scrollsaw exhibition in Albury on the 3-4th of April. So there will be plenty of opportunities to have a look and test run.

The Excaliburs are now in stock and we had a play today and these are a great saw.

Juvy If by borrowing one you give me $949.00 then that would be fine with me.

Awwwwww but Jim..... I was thinking more in the lines of the saw being payment for being an official tester

Seriously tho.. if I had a spare $1000 laying around I'd take one , as it is my old Delta workhorse will just have to hang on. Took almost 2 years to get it just the way I want it, so would really be a shame to get rid of it now.
