Wooden Clockworks
Hi, I am fairly new to this site.I have a Hegner scrollsaw which I have had for about 10 years and I am looking for plans for wooden clocks. These are usually open without a case, and all the cogs, wheels, etc., are all in wood, virtually no metal parts at all.I believe most of the cogs etc. are laminated for strength, but the end result is quite decorative. Any help gratefully received.Thanks,rmm1.

Thanks a million everyone, both for the info, and the fast replies! The sites look great, and the idea of an all wooden grandfather clock sounds awesome if we can get the info. Regards, Peter.

There is/was a book published about the bloke who made the first chronometers - one book is called Longditude IIRC - anyhow, the book you are looking for has x-rays of his first clocks, which were all made with wooden gears, all at least full size - each gear & part in detail. I think my acquaintance who has it got it at Grenwich in the UK.

Excellent site - also has links to other places that feature clocks and stuff. I'll get to and chase down all the links from it and compile them with descriptions and post it here. I even found a link to a grandfather clock made all of wood! A greenie coming your way!

Pete.... whenever you run into the problem of patterns not fitting on regular paper use the program "rapid resizer" it will let you print out on several sheets without becoming distored or blurry.
