Ok, we have a merbau deck on the Nth and West sides of our house.
I have not washed, treated, painted nor anything other to it as yet.

I have let the rain wash out the tannins and such over the last 6 months since it was built.
The deck has a roof over it with a 400mm overhang i think. The builder used dome head stainless nails... so i think sanding the whole deck will be a mission in suffering to get around the nail heads without tearing the sandpaper to shreds on the nail heads, and of course the ground appearance of the nail heads after they are sanded.

I welcome any recommendations from experienced souls in how to proceed with protecting the deck from the harsh sun and rains near Warwick, Qld.

Thanks
