Huge Deck
G'day Everyone,
As a newbie to this site I have been scanning for information relating to deck builing, as I am researching to build a massive deck of 6 x 11m.
I suppose the first question is why?
Answer: The Minister for War, Finance and Foreign Affairs would like to get rid of the existing paving and instead lay down a nice looking deck.
I like to natural timber look and get away from the boring paving look.
So here I am seeking assistance with a huge H.E.L.P.!
I have limited ground clearance (400mm) and will be building under an existing pergola.
The deck will be 11m wide and 6m in depth. With two sides (w&d) butting up against the existing house (brick construction). The existing house is an 'L' shape.
I plan on using stirrups, treated pine bearers and joists and a HW deck, but I am all over the place in regards to design and spaces between the bearers and joists and loads etc. I don't understand the span tables.
Can anyone help. Please.
I just need to be pointed in the right direction
Regards
Waralea
