I have just purchased some blackbutt parquetry flooring and pulled up the old carpet. There is still some glue on the concrete floor from the carpet, do I need to get all of this off before I try to glue down the new timber parquetry? I am worried that it might not stick properly if I don't. I will also be removing some tiles so I will probably have some problems with tile adhesive too and an uneven floor (chunks missing caused by my new friend - the jackhammer). I was wondering if I should just put down a fibrecement or MDF underlay to sort this out rather than trying to get the concrete clean and perfectly smooth and putting up with major amounts of dust all over the house. Any suggestions on either cleaning up the floor or suggested underlays would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
