<div>We have just completed a major home renovation which added new turpentine flooring in new section which was finished with 3 coats of tung oil. It looks fabulous HOWEVER it makes the original kauri flooring look very shabby indeed. We had finished the original kauri flooring in 3 coats of tung oil 15 years ago. In the main it still looks ok but some areas are quite damaged with the construction traffic. The low traffic areas come up just fine with a coat of acrylic polish.

The flooring pro suggested we need to re-finish the original flooring (at quite a few $$$$) which involved a compete re-sand and 3 new coats. This seems to be OTT and we really want to avoid re-sanding the floor.
