Painting costs, who is right?
I know its hard to quote on painting without seeing the job but I would appreciate any help. An elderly neighbour is selling her home and is getting it spruced up for the sale, this means removing the 70's wallpaper from EVERY room inc bathroom toilet and laundry and painting said rooms complete (walls, ceiling timber trim and doors ). Kitchen cupboards are also being painted. Painter 1 quoted $7440 for 2 workers for a period of about 8-10 days, painters 2 & 3 did not turn up and painter 4 said that painter 1 was a rip off and quoted $3500 plus paint and claimed to be able to paint one room a day on his own( walls and ceiling 2 coats and timber trim 1 coat) Is he right ? I know you usually get what you pay for, I was thinking more like 1.5 - 2 days per room my neighbour doesn't want a cheap job as the end result will affect the final sale price of her house. The house is the average housing trust type with average room size 4x4 m with 3m ceilings with all rooms empty as she has already moved into a retirement village.
