    Default caulking help needed

I need some advice. I'm about to caulk an expantion join on the outside brickwork, and between timber floor and windows on the inside. Whats the best caulking product to use. I was going to use Maxisila??? and is there a difference between silicon and caulk?
    cheers

I had this done at our place by the guys that were rendering,I don't know the brand they used but it was paintable,it went in about 20mm wide into the expansion gap of the brickwork. i'm sure there are many caulking agents, but make sure it is one for external use.
So I guess make sure what ever you use is paintable
As for inside you could use No More Gaps or the like, there are many colours you can get to match your windows or floor.

Silicon can be used to bond as well as fill. As far as I know they are generally NOT paintable, especially the ones designed for high moisture areas (kitchen, bathroom, etc)
    Caulk is generally water based.

    Maxisila is not ideal.

Use Sikaflex, available in basic colours. Allow min 24hrs before painting. Use masking tape each side of joint and remove immediately after levelling with a plastic spatula

I'm actually not to bad at applying the product, just unsure on what brands are best for the job required. I got told by a caulker today that Sikaflex is best for what I'm doing.
    thanks
