Easily Remove Heavy Duty Automotive Headliner Adhesive
Permatex® Heavy Duty Automotive Headliner Adhesive
https://www.permatex.com/products/sp...ive/?locale=en
Love this stuff. Every time I've used this it works perfectly.
I used it to temporarily attach melamine to melamine for halloween yard decos.
It worked great and the melamine separated exactly the way I wanted.
As in stuck together properly. Without issue.
And pried apart without destroying either piece.
Just curious, is there a chemical that I can use or something that I can apply
to easily remove the residue?
To me this would apply to overspray as well.
Thanks heaps in advance.
Thanks,
Barry G. Sumpter

Acetone would do the same thing, or Toluene some one told me that Toluene has been banned for home use.

I've had a spray of the 700 but still leaves sticky residue on some places.
It might be heavy glue spray or not leaving the remover long enough.
Clarification it's a rough cut plinth I used for a 1 night project on halloween.
Also white backing, probably not melamine as previously posted.
The other is 3mm mdf.
If I could be so bold as to ask the procedure you used at your workplace,
it would be greatly appreciated.
No prob if not.
And happy to read any other suggestion without prejudice.
Thanks in advance.Thanks,

Maybe instead of wiping it off I should use a scraper?
Or sand it off?
Both after applying the 700.Thanks,

we MAINLY use on metal surfaces at work for cleaning off old gaskets. It actually meant to be used with the 3m spray adhesive for gaskets so i guess maybe the results vary with other sprays.
generally works pretty good on most stuff i've used it on though

A long time ago when I was doing a lot of laminating using contact adhesive I used a petrol soaked rag to clean off the overspray on melamine surfaces.
The 3M rep tried to sell me some special 3M cleaner at 10 times the price but it didn't work as good as petrol.
Remember to wear gloves etc.

Went out to put it all away.
And found some tacky areas.
After all that work.
Have decided to just rub some dust on it and walk away. Thanks,

Just curious -what is covered in melamine that you would put outside? all seems to be chipboard or MDF (moisture "resistant")

I spent more time sorting it out,
than actual time displayed.
And a ridiculous amount of money on the cnc.
The rest was just quick and dirty.
And super flimsy.
Lucky it didn't rain at all.
