What glue?
A few of you are aware of what`s going on in my life & a part of that was purchasing three bedrooms worth of furniture. The buildings age (1935/industrial structure) determined (more) antique items which i duly purchased at the right price.Three different styles/colours as i didn`t want the same look in all bedrooms. All is fine except for one piece - a queen anne style bed head/foot end.The laminate is quite cracked/crazed. My original idea was to sand/peel it off & apply a stain to blend in with the other pieces (dresser, wardrobe).I then had this thought that having a stack of thick old quality gunny sacks - why not cover & glue a piece on the faces of each end? But which glue would suffice? The edges pose no problem as i can screw timber strips around. Thanks

Why use glue, just stretch it around the edges and hold in place with the timber edges?
If you want to do something to it later it would be easier to prepare the surface.

Hi Ross. The shape of the pieces doesn`t allow for it to be just stretched over.It has funny cut outs & curves so glueing seems to be the way to go as i wont need to alter it at a later stage. gordo

Solved.Mate called round, saw the QA bedhead/foot end.Said he`d swap for an old oblong veneered one.Done deal.Proves to be a better match with the other pieces & already has original timber edging strips all round which allows what Ross said to do easily without using a glue.
