Glue advise
Hi,
Looking at purchasing some glue for our Men Shed. Currently we use Titebond 3 for our cutting boards etc. People are also using it as general purpose glue, while this is ok, it is rather expensive for just general gluing.
So I was thinking of getting some Titebond 2 or Aquahere. What these glues would be used for is general work - hardwood, softwood and some ply. Considering we are in Darwin and no one stocks Titebond 2 and would need to be purchased in SA and shipped at a cost of $20.00, near as much as the glue. Where Aquahere can be obtained local.
So is Titebond 2 a better glue for just general work our would Aquahere do the job.
Thanks in advance
Brian

Aquadhere should be just fine, I'd go for the exterior stuff because it's cross-linking and more resistant to moisture than the interior one.
At the end of the day, PVA is PVA (more or less; they all will have their "secret 11 herbs and spices" additives) so, unless your using it in a high stress application that pushes the boundaries of what the glue is capable of, it's not going make a whole lot of difference if you use the dollar store special or the premium stuff.

I have used both and I think Titebond is a clever marketing exercise and not any better or even any better than Aquadhere but what it does excel at is clogging up glue bottle spouts.

I'll second this sentiment I have used both glues and the water resistant aquadhere will do most applications.

For general indoor use, pretty much any PVA will do. Admittedly the really cheap ones are prone to creep, etc. but if you're talking Titebond/Aquadhere you're not talking about those.
It's only when it comes to more specifict applications, eg. water resistance or anti-creep, that Titebond and Aquadhere come into their own. Currently for general work I'm using Selley's... mainly 'cos it's the cheapest "good" PVA my local stocks.

Hi,
Thanks for the relies - not using for any extreme stuff, just general cabinet and light construction works. You answered what I kinda figured, I guess I was after more up to date knowledge. Aquadhere it will be at least I can get this local.
Thanks everyone.
