Default Glue to bond Perspex & wood (pine) together?

    Hi all,

Can anyone suggest an adhesive that I can use to create a really strong bond between Perspex and wood (pine)?
i am wanting to glue a Perspex door rather than using bolts... Prefferably a glue from bunnings for convenience .

    thanks.

Silicone sealant would be my first choice, or possibly one of the car body adhesives. They use silicone to glue fish tanks together, so it's not too weak, and it's nice and flexible to cope with wood movement. Buy the Sika brand stuff from Bunnies.

Perspex is a bugger to glue, as is polycarbonate. Go withe the Sikaflex silicone.

Would it help at all to scuff up the surface of the perspex to be glued first? Whenever I'm trying to bond to very smooth substrates I find a light sand with 180 grit or higher helps the adhesive to key into the surface.

Silicone should work well....another possibility would be one of those foaming polyurethane adhesives like Maxi Bond. This stuff needs a bit of moisture to make it all happen, so maybe lightly wipe the timber surface with a damp cloth before joining to the perspex?
