Glue bottle question
I have a number of good glue bottles in various shapes, sizes, and spouts and get my PVA glue from the local timber yard at mates rates.
Over time, some minor amounts of the glue dries on the inside of the bottles.
Any suggestions on the best method of removal. I have tried soaking in water.... cold... hot... with detergent... without detergent etc. Also tried acetone, and whilst it was ok on the base deposit, it was not very effective over all.Cheers

I acquire red sauce bottles from op shops. They are cheap and last well. Often glue dries around the top and inside the spout. I screw the top off and peel the dried glue from the inside the spout. I don't think it is a good idea to "regenerate" old glue, even to the point I will dispose of the contents nd replace with fresh glue. It is just not worth the risk of joint failures.

The bottles I am using are designed to be used multiple times, so they should be fine. Also, a 500ml bottle of glue does not last long as I don't scrimp when gluing up.
I am not trying to "regenerate old glue," I am trying to get the inside of the bottles spotless. Hope this makes sense and I did not misinterpret what you meant by "regenerate."Cheers

I use the sauce bottles also. No big deal to get another bottle as we go through sauce quicker than I can use the glue so always have a few on hand. The twist top on sauce bottles is a better option than the caps on glue bottles that get lost all the time.

Have you tried putting water into the m/t glue bottles and giving them a good shake,Also I use old sauce bottles to store my glue, when they are m/t I rinse them out and store them upside down,on a jig I made up with two bits of plywood one with a large hole for the bottle and the second one with smaller hole to suit the cap and,a couple of bits of pine for the sides, also I put a used icecream container to catch any glue that dribbles out under the glue/sauce bottles. Cheers JOHN..

Like AlexS, I use vinegar.
A tsp or two in the bottle, fill with hot water and leave to stand overnight. This "softens" the bulk of it, making for easier removal. The actual removal is accomplished by adding a handful of small gravel & shaking, followed by peering down the neck and scraping away whatever remains using a dowel with a crisp, square end.
I haven't found any truly easier method... yet.
So I'm watching this thread with interest.

Another vote for the plastic sauce bottles with the twist top.
Red for Std PVA.
BBQ for the titebond II.
Easy to unscrew and pull out of top and neck with long nose pliers, Whatever's below the glue line is fine with me.
I need to get some yellow mustard ones from the BBQ stand outside bunnies next time for the titebond III..
