Best glue for melamine cabinets
Hi. What is the best glue for melamine cabinets. I’m meaning glueing up melamine-faced particleboard or mdf. Something that sticks to both the raw board and the melamine face.
Industrial strength.
I’ve typically used just screws or connectors for this applications but sometimes you just can’t hide them, so I will need to use concealed connectors and glue.
Cheers

I have recently used the above mentioned Titebond for gluing engineered floorboards (plywood bottom) directly to the melamine face. So far holds well. I did try and scuff up the melamine face slightly before flying.

Ok, thanks, I didn’t know about that one.
I also googled this up
303 Clear Melamine Glue | TAC Adhesives
Both are available here on the Central Coast at Nover so I can buy one and try it.
Question on the Titebond - how did you find the cleanup of squeezeout ?
Cheers

There is also AV Syntec AV56
Does anyone know if that product is still available. Has that company gone out of business? Seem to have no internet presence.Apologies for unnoticed autocomplete errors.

AV Syntec was aquired by Bostik a few years ago and most of their products are still available . AV-56 Clear is still widely used by commercial kitchen cabinet companies and I have found it excellent for bonding melamine faced boards. I believe it is a water based cross-linking acrylic and is manufactured at the Melbourne Bostik factory.

Nightingale Grasp MM58 works pretty well with Melamine to bare chipboard/MDF/wood. It's available from Mr Plywood stores and is pretty cheap. My only con would be that it is quite runny so applying too much creates a bit of a mess, but that also means is easy to wipe up if you get to it before it starts tacking up.

Progress to date:
I went to Nover and bought some Tightbond Melamine glue to experiment with. Result is that it works quite well. I was expecting a firmer bond - maybe I just need to experiment with it more?
NB. I bought the 473ml bottle which cost $32 at Nover, but I subsequently noticed was $17 odd at Carbatec.
I think I will still try the AV56. I used it years ago and was very impressed.
Cheers, and thanks

I've always just used contact adhesive, applied to both sides, allowed to tack off and then brought together. Works fine.

We get it in 20litre drums at work. Has a slight latex smell - Thats how we check if a glue bottle is av56 or x link pva. We also use a lot of the yellow stuff for MDF or timber that isnt too important (stresswise ).
