    Default glue quandry

12 months ago I decided on a test of glue quality. it was very basic

1 piece of dressed 19x90 pine (from Bunnies) cut into equal lengths then 2 pieces joined 90* together using a basic $2 shop pva glue and 3 screws, next 2 pieces used Selleys pva glue (Bunnies) the 3 set Titebond 111.

after 24 hours I removed all the screws packed then vertically into a cardboard box and left in a cool bark spot for 12 months. well the day of reckoning and with each 'set' I placed 1 piece over 2 bricks then walloped the cross piece.
    The selleys gave way first
then the $2 shop but dang that needed some force I was amazed
titebond stuck best, but was/is it really worth the extra $$$

    curious.........

To be really honest there are way too many variables in a test such as that to give any meaningful result

no pics sorry, just an experiment I did and then recycled.
Think I would still prefer the quality brands over cheap but was interesting. As China says too many variables.....more red wine needed

I use TB, Sellys and several others. I can’t remember the last time I saw a failure at the glue line from any of them.

I’m more likely to pick a PVA on the basis of the colour of the glue line for the job.

Did they break on the glue line or did the pine shear apart.
If the glue is any good it shouldn’t go on the line.
