Glueing Hardwood Veneer to Wooden Door Core

Hi, I started a thread over in the Renovate Forum concerning the best product to glue hardwood veneer to a solid western red cedar core door. Here is a link to the thread if anyone can offer some advice... Sorry, I'm not sure on the etiquette of cross-posting and the like

My two cent's worth:

I'd be worried about movement in all those slats; this could potentially cause the door to warp over time as you'd have an unbalanced laminate.

How thick are you going to make the slats? More than a few mm could be troublesome.

If you did the slats at maybe 5mm thickness, I'd glue them to the door (with epoxy) then make a few cuts (at veneer thickness depth) across the door and fill the gap with Sikaflex 290 (boat deck caulking) for a bit of wiggle room if the timber moves. (you could leave gaps while gluing the door up, if you wanted to do a section at a time).

Thanks for the reply Splinter. I was thinking of making them about 5mm thick but had not thought about warping/expansion issues.
