Default off the grid hide glue heater

So, I am not off the grid.. but I am very DIY.. and my workshop does not have electric.. so lights are lantern and old kerosene 1922 Alladin. Anyway, I devised a gluepot heater by cutting a coffee can and installing a hoseclamp to hold the gluepot main body.
Candles heat the pot, and a cooking thermometer helps keep me informed.

Looks good. Mines similar…..its a milo tin with a light bulb in the base. A glass jar sits over the light bulb. Then sitting on top of the jar is a tomato salsa jar that holds the hide. Its a wide low jar from the supermarket, thats perfect because you can get your brush in easily. When your done the salsa jar can be easily lidded and put in the freezer for next time. Change the bulb wattage so that it heats to around 60C. Before you begin you can speed up the heat up by running hot water over the salsa jar. If it jars coming straight from the freezer its important to run hot water over it anyway, else the heat shock will crack the jar. Gone through a lot of jars that way. Thermometer held in a hole in salsa jars lid during initial heat up. After you begin using, I dump the lid and clip the thermometer to the jar rim with a peg, to ensure it doesn't exceed 62-63C. When it does you just turn light off and watch the temp drop. Use hot water for cleanup in a separate container with rag and old toothbrush. Occationally use a syringe to squirt hot water from the cleanup container into the hide to keep it runny enough. Want it just the right runnyness. Don't want it too thick in particular. Old small spoon to stir it.

Just have to make sure the family doesn't throw their old toothbrushes in the bin, and encourage them to eat nachos occasionally.

thats just my opinion, on a process that no doubt has many approaches.
