    Default Hide glue

    Hi All,

I want only a confirm to one my thought: being a organic stuff, the hide glue, if I covered with water it the evening before and next day I don't melt the glue for the use because I'll use it the day after, what do I have to do?
Does the glue lose its features remaining in the pot in wet state for another day?
    Cheers
    Gabriele

It's good for weeks, months even. In hot weather put it in the fridge.

Being a protein substance, it's quite a good culture medium for several kinds of microbes, so you certainly would need to refrigerate if left liquid. (Commercial liquid hide glues have bacterial inhibitors). As you know, some bugs can continue to work away, albeit at a slower rate, even in the fridge, so really, the best advice is to mix only the amount you need and throw out any leftovers after a couple of days.
The cost of a small amount of wasted glue is small. The irritation and inconvenience of failed joints is huge!
    Cheers,
    IW
