Default Natural glue/epoxy for bamboo or wood?

    Hello from Denmark

Found this forum googling wood work's forums .... Impressive place you have here

Would appreciate some advice on this:

I'm looking for a natural tree sap/resin that I can use to glue thin strips of wood or fiber sheets made out of bamboo (sort of like carbon fiber sheets).

It can also be an epoxy or epoxy-like adhesive but if so it preferably should be made from natural ingredients and be non-toxic to work with.

I will be using the sap/resin/epoxy for a bike so it needs to be able to accept vibrations and some degree of deformation, water, sun, heat etc. (and last at least a 100 years ).

Where I live I also have access to fresh or slightly thickened spruce sap (or is it called "resin"?). I tried to cure the sap in the oven, however, not with a good result. Any of you know how to do this (preferably with natural materials). Also, which natural fluid can I use to thin the sap/resin that will also allow it to cure afterwards when it evaporates/chemically reacts?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Yo mates in Australia. Hope life is good where you are

    Greetings,

    Jesper

    Jesper,
I glue small thin strips of Bamboo together using Titebond III. I make salt water flyrods out of six triangular strips of Bamboo. Some of the strips get down to a mm across, I use Titebond III because it is waterproof when it dries and it allows the Bamboo to flex.
The only "natural" glue I have ever heard of is hide glue. Titebond actually had a liquid hide glue back in 1935. I don't know if it is still made
Watch makers use hot shellac to hold parts in place during machining. It holds well and can be remove by re heating. It is not water resistant, is difficult to apply and has low durability but it is a "natural' product.
    Hope this helps
    Joe
