Paulonia, Paulowina/Kiri Boat Timber/Megaoxy Glue
Hi to all,
Just received a sample pack of Paulonia, I was interested in this timber but could not find anybody that sold it, so a web search turned up a company in Mordialloc Victoria called " Port Phillip Plantation Shutters" gave them a ring and "wow" did I get some service,I was told all about the timber, how they import and where from in China and was asked if I would like some samples of thier product,Yes Please! Well it turned up this morning, sample bits of timber and a machined shutter blade plus a heap of documentation on the timber its self and thier product ( shutters ) price list and all, their prices seem OK, rough sawn 100x25 $5.44 l/m dressed $6.25 l/m. They also supply light weight panels and strip planking for boats, and plantation shutter kits ( self Assemble )
When I first rang they asked how much I needed, when told I was only in the hobby range it did not seem to make any difference, you would have thought I was going to purchase 1000,s of meters, very impressive way to make sales, give service,I wish some other companies would take note and offer the same service to all. I must be on a win win this week thats the second company thats given great service, Vivacity Engineering Pty, Ltd in Sydney,Rang to find out about Epoxy Glues, and was givern excellant service resulted in a sale, not a problem to obtain COD to my local PO the next day, cost of 2lts = $100 including cod charges.
Phone numbers.
Port Phillip Plantation Shutters 03 9588 2533 freecall 1800 19 12 13
Vivacity Engineering.02 9875 3044 ( Megapoxy )
WARNING, dont let SWMBO see the the coluor photos of the plantion shutters ( oh they would be great on the western windows come summer ) so thats means we are getting bloody shutters instead of more tools, Like somebody said " Lifes not meant to be easy"

Hi Peter,
I use megaoxy a fair bit glueing granite slabs to walls even waterfeatures but I tried using it to glue the tinnie together and it failled in about 6 months - I asumed the salt water contact.
maybe it was the aluminium
maybe I was using a different type I've got one with PF on the side of the drums. I thought that there was only one megapoxy.
Make sure you have the right glue but I agree great company great product.
Cheers Tony

Meagapoxy is not really a marine glue and I personally wouldnt use it for boat construction. West System or International HT9000 would be my choice they are far more versitile and do nearly every job, Megapoxy will not.
It is really only a joinery glue.
