PVAc undoing
Just wondering if by any off chance there is any way possible on this earth that tradies aquadhere (PVAc) can be unstuck after it has been stuck? I messed up a tongue and groove join on a piece of my floor and although can be alleviated by an expansion gap, would prefer to take the piece out and not have the expansion gap. Thank those above that it is in the 'right' wrong place! Ok, ok, so I'm a GIRL. But at least I'm giving it a go - and a damn good one I might add!

I have found that some PVA and aliphatic glues soften with vinegar (use cheapest white vinegar from supermarket, not swmbo's favourite balsamic).
You need to keep the vinegar up to the joint, so I flood it on and keep the joint wet with vinegar by further applications whenever it looks to be drying out. The glue doesn't dissolve entirely but it often becomes soft enough to allow the pieces to be separated - a sharp knife blade can be a help as well to slice the glue as you pull the joint apart.Cheers

The time and effort required to undo a large PVA-held joint is going to be excessive - just rip a narrow shim from a spare board (enlarge the gap with a router bit if it is a bit on the small side) and insert and glue that in.

pva
OK, I haven't tried it, but always had a suspicion methylated spirits would do it; How to Remove PVA Glue From Clothes | eHow.com
I found this link, it seems to confirm my idea; after all, it works for acrylic paints, (a runny kind of pva)
Cheers, Raul
