Default Titebond 3 separating an incomplete joint

Has any one had success with disassembling a titebond 3 joint?

I have tried heat as per the manufacturers recommendation using a heat gun with no success. I have read some of the Internet "factoids" about using water , steam or vinegar but don't really want to load the parts with fluid and with titebond 3 I can't seem to find anything suggesting these methods would work?

Using water and/or steam really needs a joint where you can actively get water or steam to all of the glue faces - I think you're down to the last resort...

I have a luthier mate who has made up a tool to blow steam through a long needle. He drills into the join then inserts the needle and blasts in steam. It does a really good job of loosening necks from guitar bodies. This method might be a lot of trouble to open one joint but it will work.

    Hi Pac Man
The bad news is that it will be almost impossible to disassemble a Titebond 3 glued wood to wood joint. Titebond3 gives a D4 bond, which is classed as waterproof, although I wouldn't want to build an ocean going boat out of it. The joint will be impervious to water and vinegar. Heat might be you only savior, but the problem that you face there is that the timber will act as a very nice insulator to keep the heat out.

Franklin international advised a 1:1:1 mix of water, vinegar and acetone. With alternate heat.
I don't think it will work as I won't have enough of a gap to do this. And as you say the timber will insulate from the heat. So I think I will remove the 10mm x 90mm x2.1 mm part with the table saw. This will also remove the residue as titebond does not stick to titebond residue.
    Thanks for the input
