You need to use some serious solvents to break down cured glue, any normal finish should be perfectly safe.

Same as the other replies. I use Titebond III for most of my wood to wood joints and have subsequently used a lot of boiled linseed oil with no hint of the joint being eaten into. Titebond II & III are the exterior rated so I don't know if Titebond original would make any difference.

I know a coat or two of linseed gives a darker tone to most timbers and as I am turning some glued light and dark timbers i thought a that a coat of linseed would excentuate the contrasting colours....so I applied it..

Unfortunately that was before I asked the question ...

and I am relieved now that I believe the glue joint will not be compromised....

Further to the feedback above I have previously glued wood to rattan with Titebond III and then soaked (by full submersion) the joint in boiled linseed oil for two weeks. The joint strength seemed unaffected by the process, even with the rattan becoming completely saturated with linseed and roughly doubling in weight.

It's an entirely different story if you try to glue together a joint formed with timbers that have already been finished with linseed oil.
