If you want a bottle of Titebond II 473 ml I got two so you can have one for what I paid if you want it. It is worth a trip just to see what is there. Only 11 ks away. They are opening one at Williams Landing. The old RAAF base. I don't know when. The staff bloke told me.

I have just put my postcode in the search area and brought up the 10 nearest stores to me. They range from 7 km at Roxburgh Park to 467 km at Canberra Airport.

In my neck of the woods, it's Titebond III for long open time in summer, then revert to Titebond Regular for winter use when the shed is a bit chilly.

A lot of people don't realise that the minimum recommended temperatures for Titebond glues are so high - 13 degrees C for Titebond II in particular.

The attached table of working properties may be useful to other Titebond users.

Thanks Col, I'll pass on your kind offer otherwise I will have no excuse to go to the store and have a browse

If they put one at the Williams Landing it will take me longer to get home (or stop me from reaching work altogether)

A new Masters store is being built in Toowoomba, some real competition for Bunnies at last. The building is HUGE! However, the construction has halted- apparently some legal fight with the school next door. Rumours are the build started before all submissions were finalised!?

Almost directly opposite Bunnings. Same thing's happening down the road from me in Knoxfield (although my local isn't open yet).

And the Bunniings staff have had a rocket lit, going by how helpful they were last week!

A couple of days ago, I went to several local hardware suppliers near where I live seeking Titebond 11. Only one supplier stocked it, and the cost was $55+ for the gallon bottle. Having read this thread, I decided to defer any purchase until I was in Melbourne. I was at Masters Preston yesterday and bought the gallon bottle of Titebond 11 for $20 (Low Everyday Price). Either other suppliers are buying poorly from their wholesalers, or they are seeking exhorbitant profits. I assume Masters makes a profit at $20, so the wholesale cost must be considerably lower than that.
    What's going on?

I would suggest that Masters, like Bu....gs and pretty well all major enterprises, lean very heavily on their suppliers for the cheapest cost. It comes down to the point that if the suppliers don;t meet the retailersa demands, then the retailers won't stock the item, or indeed in several cases, any products from that supplier

A gallon of Titebond II is around $25 in the 'states. So, that is a good price, but nowhere near the mark where a major chain is doing the 'lost leader', slash and burn the opposition thing. Just a nice conversion at the exchange rate from a month back!

One of the few reasons I visited the other vendor, was to purchase Titebond. This could be problematic for their sales if I'm not the only shopper who did that...

Masters are my go to store. I am really impressed with them. I think you can see the American influence through the Lowes partnership.

I used to get a lot of items from Woodcraft in the States, especialliy items that were not available here.. Masters seem to be stocking more and more of the same which is good.

In the consumerables I am starting to think that Bunnings were dumbing us down by introducing the low and mid range stuff at a premium. Eg I noticed the Titebond prices a few weeks back but what really caught my eye was the difference in quality in the abrasive section. In my opinion Bunnings has rubbish and Masters looks to be positioning themselves ahead in the quality area.

Also, many of my friends in the States use Poplar for their Toy and Scale models because of the crispness of cuts and finish at a reasonable price. To my surprise and thanks for the heads up from a fellow member her on the Gold Coast Masters stock it too and apparently source it from Canadian Mills. A friend in the States sent me a small sample with some abrasives paper he uses. Masters stock both, probably not surprising he gets both from Lowes.

You have to check each board for colour variation but it is my go to wood now. 3.88 times more expensive then pine but 10 times better in quality.

    Masters.

On Saturday I was at Carba-tec in Brisbane and at Masters just around the corner and Titebond prices at Carba-tec are now way down and just about the same as Masters prices.

When I was down in Sydney a couple of weeks ago my son got me to visit the new Bunnys at Victoria road, Castle Hill. Just looked like a copy of a Masters to me. Maybe new Bunnys are taking on a new format.
