ungluing and regluing bowl
I posted this in the woodturning forum before finding the glue forum!
My sister in law has asked me to try to repair a karri (NZ) bowl that has during a very hot day slipped from its base and then reglued about 2 cm off centre.
I think that it has been glued using a hot melt gun - the glue is transparent and very glossy.
I need a way to separate the two pieces and then reglue.
I am looking for suggestions as to possible methods eg hot air gun/hairdryer, microwave, fridge/freezer as suggested in some threads - that work!
Should I - once apart reglue and pin with the same glue or clean off and use something like Titebond/PVA?

found this advice
I heat up the tip of a box-cutter or an Exacto knife. I use a heat gun/hair drier/propane torch and just slice the item out. You may have to re-heat the blade a couple of times. I also made up a slotted tip for my soldering gun that holds an Exacto blade.here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1013565
