interested in how you might do this. The plastic winder does feel flimsy!

Hi Mote. I’m planning to just copy the original. Use a standard Unbrako bolt and weld it a shaft with a T handle. (Unbrako with 5mm socket)
Would have been better if the collet came up further and the spindle lock is a bit awkward to get to. I 3D printed the tool for the plate. Makes it a bit safer so you cut yourself on a router bit.

would people reccomend this router for use in a table.... but using the in built lifter.

there is only a few videos i can find talking about it and the few bunnings in my local area have them (hoping to to bully them down to $125). But i'm considering putting this in my cast iron router table and not have to buy a lifter.

This is why I bought this. I didn't really want to go the whole hog on the router lift and it offered some of the functionality. I have mounted mine in a table saw extension wing. A basic insert off Amazon and a few hours later I was good to go. One or two mistakes along the way

Overall I have found it meets my needs.

There are a few niggles - getting to the router bit from above is not super simple but there are a few ideas around that could improve it. The bit does drop a little when re-tightening the motor in the mount. I just allow for that.

Also - make sure the motor is locked in before releasing the latch because it could just drop straight out!

That said - so far I'm impressed. It has opened up new avenues that previously weren't there! Bargain at $125!

Thanks for that, I'd be keen to see how you go with the better handle! The spindle lock is a bit tricky. I heard of some using a collet extender? I might look into that. The option is some have but a step bend in the handle of the spanners to allow them to get below the table surface better.

Ended up getting a display model with 90% of the accessories for $120. I think the only thing missing is the 6mm collet.

Intend on mounting it in a router table, but its a cast iron one that doesn't take a standard router insert plate. It just has a hole and a weird mounting system underneath so i'll have to try and make up a mounting plate and drill a hole for the winder

Rang most stores in Melbourne and none left anywhere. Managed to find one in swan hill and got it shipped to me for 175 delivered. They have one left

Gave it a whirl tonight and i have to say it’s quite a nice machine, and pretty quiet too

    That is an incredible price.

By comparison, Dieter Schmidt in Germany currently has the AEG MF1400 KE listed at €457.10, approximately Aus$713.

No. Price defines the quality. Dieter's must be better.
