AEG RT1350 Template Guides
Yes i/you/we knew it. AEG equals Bunnnings and their sales/after sales service, so please forgive my stupidity and i promise i won't shop there again...ever,but more about that in a minute
Does anyone know a source for a 5/8th inch template guide/bushing to suit an AEG 1350?
Phoned AEG Australia and they sent a catalogue of parts available, enough to build a new router and stress any future dealings must be directly with Bunnies and their ever helpful staff (tried that twice originally and was recommended there to talk to AEG direct) but alas the original only t/guide (still in my possession as supplied with the router) is not even listed and is not 5/8 anyway.
Leigh make guides for nearly every other router on the market except AEG so they cant help and Carbetec said i should spend another $299 on another router that will accept a 5/6 blah blah blah
Also looked at Template Toms posts but no luck there and any advice that is not rude or cynical will be more than greatly appreciated.

AEG = Porter Cable (I think they are called in the States, Porter something anyway)
Strangely enough, I contacted AEG direct and they were very helpful, even sent me a replacement collet.

AEG is part of the mob that supply Ryobi to Bunnings, from memory the do 3 brands, AEG is the upper range, Ryobi is the middle range, and theres something lower still.
Your best bet is probably to spend $30 on an aftermarket base for the router that will take a standard Porter Cable style guide. But check that you can have access to fit the guide without having to pull the base each time you need to change the guide or remove it. You could make a base yourself from a piece of clear perspex provided that you can drill the holes to mount the template guide and fit it to the metal router base. You need to set it up so that you have about 2mm play in the mounting bolt holes so you can adjust position to get the guide and template concentric.

Thanks Wolf and Mal for the input. Will definitely try both of those leads.

Didn't you get a template for a routerbase in your manual?
I did for both of mine.
As far as I remember, I got a couple of guides as well.
Will have to look up my model numbers tomorrow.
Cheers

No didn't get one Wolf and only scored one template guide but its too big and curiously cant be replaced cos it wasn't listed as a spare or an accessory on the parts drawing i was sent by AEG.
Will try and score a uni base next time i visit the big smoke.
Thanks again Steve
