    Default AUK 1800 Watt router

Hi guys, have pretty much decided to go for the Incra router lift with the AUK 2400 Watt router. The router with remote speed control seems quite expensive at $865. Has anyone else opted for the AUK with external speed controller.
    TIA.

    Hi Steven,

I decided not to pay the extra so I have the AUK router and Incra Mastr-lift with a Pro-Router switch above the router table. Haven’t regretted not having the speed control off-router.

i think woodPixel had the full combination including the remote speed control and if I remember correctly he loves it.

    Regards,

    Brian

A CNC spindle with a VFD for speed control is an alternative and better in every way. Less noise, multiple chuck sizes, more robust and better speed control.

Homey is dead right. The variable remote is amazing. 100% love it.

There are effusive reviews here with me rabbiting on about it too

On Mr Parks' comments, I absolutely agree with his thoughts. I went with the AUK, as at the time an appropriate spindle plus collar with controller was 1) incredibly hard to get 2) incredibly expensive.... but now? They are damned cheap and everywhere.

    e.g. CNC Spindle & VFD Set | AUS Store | 3DTEK

If I were to redo it? It go with the CNC option and the little learning curve to wire it up.

On both the CNC and AUK they are both VERY quiet, which I appreciate. I hate unnecessarily loud equipment.

Things have changed since we built the one linked and these have become available as a kit and damned cheap. You can build a lift for under $100 dollars, it won't be anodised and flashy but it will be bullet proof.

Well thanks everyone for their input. I’m waiting on the Sawstop cast iron router table (space saving) which is due around the beginning of Oct i was told. Soi far i have decided on the Incra router lift with the AUK 2.4 kW motor with external speed control. As for fences i have no idea really and the other option which seems pretty good is the dust hood. Good for dust extraction and the other I’m hoping keeps it all a little quieter mind you i tend to wear ear phones and listen to audio books half the time.

Just curious if anyone has imported one of the tiling routing lifts OLF 3
and motors from Sauter tools in Germany. They come with a UK plug so they would need to changed but apart from they they seem very good.

Update, i purchased the Sauter pivoting Router Lift and 1800 Watt Suhner 1800 motor.

Time will tell if it is any good..mind you it would be way better than i will ever be..

    Hi Steven,

If that’s the Suhner UAL23RF/UK I looked at that a year or so ago but at the time the maximum collet size available for this was 12mm. That is to say it would not accept 1/2 inch bits. There was someone on the forum here who was selling a Suhner unused for that very reason. Presumably they now have a half inch collet for this although I couldn’t immediately see it on the web page for this motor.

The Sauter/Suhner gear certainly gets good reviews on YouTube.

    Best regards,

    Brian
