I'm not too sure what your upto here but I use the smartguide as a straight edge for my router all the time..............To date has given great results!!!!

I missed the Dino bash! But as a self professed fan of the smartguide all I can say is that I love the thing!!!..................one of the best pre tablesaw buys I have ever made!!!

Also Dino is a Top Bloke he's even sent me stuff from america for free & always looks at ways to help costsave buy buying direct from him in the USA!!! He's even offered to help out with freight costs at times!!!

With a bit of thought and prepping you can do large range of cuts on a circular saw n router with the smartguide!

I agree I find the guide system very handy for an inept person like myself I bought from Northwood in QLD. How did you find the feight cost from the states? I just find the AU cost a bit too steep!

Its always dumbfounded me why people have found the cost of the Smartguide so expensive:confused: :eek: :confused:

For what you get; ease of use - espically with large manmade boards, And quantum leap from messy Jigs (N believe me I've tried and made them all.......Well not quite but most:eek: ) next to a table saw (Around $1250.00 For a thb10c etc etc).

You got to remember this is more than just a straight edge Jig its an entire modular expandable system!!!!!!!

I reckon its the ducks guts!!!.......................Its forte is large boards of melamine mdf ply n the like n I reckon coupled with a good cutup table is easier n safer to use by 1 person than a table saw. (But thats just me)

My last order was going to cost $100 for airfreight I ordered 64inch guides and a few other odds n ends!!! ................ Dino even offer to go halves in the freight costs!

Take the same idea to the next step.
1.Connect both guide rails with two adjustable brackets and you have repeatability.
2. Use an adjustable indicator and you have positioning without measuring.
Yes. The guide rails are designed to accommodate your ideas.
The very strong double wall extrusions and the ez slide on and off edges can turn the ez into anything you can think off.

The smart router system is a whole new tool.
The same tool can be use with a planer, zick saw, router, line drilling etc.
You can do exact dados with undersize bits.
You can rout X-Y - Z without resetting the guide rail.
You can use it as a duplicator and circle maker.

Your idea to utilize what you have is brilliant.
If you go back to the old thread with an open mind, you can see what I was trying to say.
Why not take this idea (the shooter board) to the next step.
why not make the shooter board a portable CNC and even better.

Happy new year Lou.
We send few orders to AU direct.
Remember that this is a new product and a new market for us.
Now that we all know the product better and our distributor is ready and able to serve the customers with replacement parts, additional items and easy shipping from AU, We're taking a step back and stop the direct sales.
Weren't in business to compete with Northwood. And imagine if you need to pay $50.00 shipping for $5.00 item.:eek:

Actually Dino, I think you are pushing the wrong end of your product line.

I accidentally ended up on your product page looking at something else & I found the verticle panel saw setup - very useful & quite reasonably priced, most other places I have seen them advertised are charging nearly as much for the nuts & bolts, the builder has to supply the long metal shapes.

The basic guide has a LOT of competition, in quality, price & ease of use - the panel saw looks to be in a much smaller market & right up at the top of its class.

We do have a major problem with the versatility of the ez smart.
Nobody believes that a simple tool can do all that.
We need time. Thanks for your advice.
At the trade shows, We only demonstrate the panel saw features.
When we demonstrate the repeaters and the planer with the router..We have no sales. Go figure.:confused:
