Default Which bit for dovetail Jig?

Does anyone know which is the corect bit for a carbatec half blind dovetail jig?
Carbatec sell two. Both different. One is a carbi tool 15.8mm 15degree
the other is a carbatec 12.7mm 7 degree.
Now the grizzly manual says a 1/2 inch 14 degree bit with a 7/16th guide bush or bearing.
One or all of them probably work. Someone who has one of these generic jigs must know what size and angle works best.

Doesn't the best angle change with the length of the pin?

from my understaning they are both suppose to work. They also have one for doing half blind finger joints.

I have got the cheap Carbatec one with my jig.

The 12.7 mm one is the 'correct' one. At least, that is the size that I use in mine and the size that they sold me originally.
This assumes that you only have the standard 1/2" comb in the jig

I'm guessing a bit here (no pun indended; well, not much ), but if you are using 19mm stock, then the 12.7mm x 7deg bit sounds the go, bearing in mind that the typical range for dovvies is 1:6 or 1:8 for softwood and hardwood respectively. Even if half-blind, I see no great reason to deviate from that - but would be interested to hear if there are good reasons for doing so.

Although the design width of the bit is 1/2" dia the bit actually sticks out 9/16" from the base of the router. this allows wall thicknesses of > 1/2" for drawers etc.

The reason for 2 different sizes is because the jig will do timber from 12mm to 32mm thick and the 9.5mm dovetails would look kinda silly on 32 mm thick timber. In actual fact, there are 3 router bits for the carbatec jigs, the third being a box joint bit for finger joints.

Thank you. This is what I was vaguely remembering, one disadvantage of relying on jigs is you forget the simple basics.

Default which bit for dovetail jig

    Caliban
the Carbatec dovetail jigs, the WDV-2 and the WDV-1N use the following cutters in conjunction with the standard 12.7mm combs
    CT-0758B 7deg angle 5/8 dia and 16mm long cutter on a 1/4 shank.
    CMT 818-142-11B 14 deg 9/16 9.5 long
The larger of the cutters is for 19 mm stock and the smaller is for 12 mm stock.
See our current (2005) cat for more details
    Hope this helps
