I tend to wing it via sketchup and work out all my plans/design & joinery using that. Though I do initially start with pencil and paper as I can think better when I have a pencil in my hand.

As a side note I have mostly Makita electric hand tools along with some Bosch stuff. The Japanese are good at making tools that cut and slice things, think Samurai swords and how sharp the Japs make them!. As for the Germans well, the engineering is some of the best in the world.

Vorsprung durch technik, as they say!.

Decided on the Makita as the only Bosch's available are 2nd hand and the chance of finding one locally in the time frame I need is pretty slim.

If anyone is interested there's a "new" kit for sale on gumtree at the moment with quite a few accessories including fixed base but he wants more than it was selling new for with no receipts or warranty.

You wont be disappointed, the Makita is built like a tank and the plunging action is better than any Festool.
