Recently, I picked up a Harvey RT-800 router table top and a few other pieces in a liquidation auction of Gregory Machinery's in Brisbane. It was awful to see another family business disappearing and I realised that with it, the opportunity to obtain some quality pieces was also disappearing.

I wasn't ready to upgrade my router (a Kreg benchtop) and it wasn't like I got a bargain by the time the 20% auction fees are added in, but I am very happy to have started building this project.

The new router table top was sitting in the way on the floor of our workshop, so I thought I would look for a set of legs. We have too many projects on the go at the moment so I resisted the urge to build our own. None of the ready-to-buy options were right for the larger 800mm table, so I borrowed some inspiration from a set of legs I saw online and had it made up by Gap Engineering in Brisbane. We have used Gap Engineering before - I highly recommend them.

This is the project so far. We will do something to add a storage shelf after we work out the space taken up by the other components.

I also picked up a couple of Harvey Compass RF-36-M router fences (one of which I plan to offer for sale on the forum). However, I am a long way off using this table. I am now researching router lifts and whether I want to use a fixed or plunge router. I am leaning towards fixed rather than tie up our plunge router and have the issue of taking it on and off every time we want to use it. Carbatec have a fixed router and a few different router lift options but I would love to hear some thoughts from others.

I plan to update more on the build if anyone is interested.

Cheers!
