Carbatec Cast Iron Router Table
Carbatec sell a cast iron router table for about $300 (The RT107). What I want to know is is it any good? Is the surface dead flat? Does the meachanism for mounting the router work okay? Is it worth buying?

We have one at the Hills Mens Shed. It is about 6months old and gets used every week.
The table seems flat enough - no problems or complaints as yet.
The stand was a right pain in the behind to put together, but is OK once it is assembled.
The fences are crap. Little aluminium extrusions that flop around, bend and twist. On ours, the casting that holds the fences and doubles as the dust port is not flat so the fences can never be set properly. We have been waiting quite a long time for a replacement.

I bought the same table, I wanted to use my Gifkins jig but didn't want to use my Triton again. I waited until I got it before starting my bookcase. It is FANTASTIC, I was I'd bought it sooner.

Nrb
I bought one of those too and retired the Triton(sold it and all the att.for more than I paid)table flat and stable not like the Triton..
Fences were another story, lucky that I have a good size belt sander because the cast iron frame and exhaust port was not true at all, made it all good after running it on the belt sander(cast iron sands well with the same belts that I use for timber maybe a little wear but still ok) I have a Triton fitted which bolted on ok,being able to change bit from above makes it easy.
Can't remember who but it was by a guy Les ? at the Melbourne WWW Show many years ago said if your tools don;t let you make repeatable cuts the same they are not worth having ( I think he was talking about Triton version 1) no probs with this one and at a good price.

I'm trying to source one of these myself as I have a hot new, just arrived in my hand Triton MOF.
However Carbatec seem to be out of stock of this item - have been waiting on an order for more since may, and have no eta on new stock coming in.
Frustrating,
If it takes too much longer I'll crack and get a Kreg benchtop unit or similar - but then I loose the use of all my magswitch toys that have been sitting on the shelf for ages, waiting for a suitable working surface.
