Collet runout
I have a low-end Ryobi router (Xmas present) that I just put in a Router Lift. It worked OK with some bits but I couldn't get enough height above the table, so went out & bought a collet extension to raise the bits. This seems to amplify the runout about 5-fold & creates so much vibration it's scary. And the noise!! The collet extension is perfectly true (checked in drill press), so the culprit has to be the collet. Apart from the obvious solution - buy a decent router - does anyone have any words of wisdom for a newbie?
I'll go shopping for a new collet, but I can predict the reaction already. But hey - any excuse to visit a toy ..err tool shop!
Cheers
...Phil

The Brisbane Woodshow is just over a months away, wait until then as there'll be many for you to look at all in the one place and usually at lower prices than the RRP.
