Default How to conveniently lower router bit from table saw extension

I'm planning on having my table router set up as an extension unit to my table saw. Most of the time, the router bit sticking up will not present a problem since it'll be far enough off to the right of the saw.

But for those times when I do need to take the entire spread for saw work, how can I easily lower the router without having to disassemble it from the table? Is there some kind of lowering mechanism I can install with the router attachment?

    Thx!

    John

Have a look at www.woodpeckers.com.au/webcontent4.htm (our website) many purchasers of the UniLIFT do so because of the ability to lower the bit, from above the table, particularly when the router table is on the 'wings' of a table saw.

John, have a look at my set up which may help you.

I have a Triton router which are common here but available in your country. This router is both a plunge and wind up router and can easily be lowered below the table or raised above the table for easy removal of the router bits.

It is also fixed to the grey router table plate which is part of the Triton router table and can be easily lifted out for complete removal.

Not knowing your prices I can't tell you if it is a good option but here it is a very good solution.
