I vote for Damo to be banned also. This is clearly an unacceptable situation and against forum rules 26a, 29d and 1098 chapter 16.
Well done Damo, can you lift that monster router on the right?

Scheer router
Hi Damien et al
I managed to pick up a Scheer HM16 router over here in Oz and they sure are large machines! It spins well but came without any instructions or even a wrench etc. Does anyone know any more about these machines e.g. How do you change bits (they seem to have an internal thread arrangement), are there bits available etc. Does Scheer have an Australian agency?
Regards
Grant

The one I have has a normal collet attached (screwed in) to the M16 thread. There are special bits designed to be used with these types of routers. Here's a link: German Scheer handler but with pics...
Hope it helps. Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

Scheer
Thanks Damien
Wish I could read German...
Any idea where could i get a normal collet to screw in to the M16 thread? That sounds like a better idea than trying to source the scheer bits in Oz.
... and how do you get the old bits out?
Regards

I could track you one down if you don't find anything in Oz. Let me know and I'll get in touch to see what the options are for a 1/2 collet assembly. Could well be that I will only find 12mm but the nuts usually take both...

Collet assembly
Hi Damien
Thanks for the offer of help. I contacted MWE in Sydney who stock an HM-18e model that has a m16 x 1.5 threaded mount and they said that they have chuck/collet assemblies available which fit their model for about $160 AU. Just not sure they will bit my machine. They couldn't give me any more info or any diagrams/pictures or specs so as I could check. I tried the scheer website which (being translated said...) HM-16 For heavy milling, especially in connection with the Zinkenfräsgerät ZF 630 or Nuten- and Jalousiefräsgerät FL 2, with universal motor for AC power 1800 watts with only 6.5 kg net weight, speed of 18,000 rpm. With internal thread M 16 x 1.5.Max. Hub 80 mm.Max stroke 80 mm.Die Maschine wird im Systainer geliefert! The machine will be delivered in Systainer!
I'm picking the two models have the same threaded shaft? Just not sure I want to pay $160 for a chuck when the whole machine cost me less than a third of that!
Regards
Grant

stormrev, I have a much older model scheer router Hm-40 three phase at least 20 years old and the thread is the same, I have in fact just recently purchased the chuck from major woodwoking machinery and it does fit so I think it will also fit your model it appears they have not changed in many years.
