    Guys
I just love my $39 triton router, you know the fixed base blue one.
Actually I love both of mine.
But even better is the 1/4 inch supercheap auto clone of the axminster that I bought for $60 when it was incorrectly priced. Absolute delight to use hand held with small bits.
    Cheers
    Jim

aaaaaahhhh said the blind man to the deaf buggar "gotcha!"

    No worries cheers!

I will incorporate your ideas along with whoevers idea it was to use a sissor jack to lift the thing... now that was a bloody ripsnorter of an idea! am presently giving some thought to setting a handle that connects direct and outside and higher so theres buggar all bending... me knees doncha know me achin knees and thats why the switch is of primary importance ol fella

Im of half a mind to do away with the stand and build one that has cupboards for the ruddy tools collet and bits which keep trying to loose themselves all over the place!

    Default Removable spring

The Triton's removable inner spring makes under table height adjustment a lot easier.

With the spring in a plunge router installed, you must raise the equivalent of over twice the router's weight and both the weight and force of the spring that is designed to keep the router up, but up-side down, it don't.

There is a comment about the center of gravity.

Triton have a 50mm long straight bit. The Triton Router has a plunge capacity that is deep enough to put that bit under the table. When looking at the router in its full glory, wound out, it does appear to be top heavy. In use however, it gets wound down to a point where the bit you are using is at the preferred height.

This is another of those once written, oft quoted, misleading review points by an author who it appears wrote a review based on illustrations, without having used the product.

The other neat advantage of the auto lock on the shaft is that as a spanner does not need to find its way in between the shafts, the Triton has a fixed safety guard on both sides. This not only makes it safer, it also gives it pretty good dust collection as a hose can screw right into the safety guard.

    FWIW

    Steve
