    Default Dowel Maker

Is the S/J Fine Woodworks steel dowel maker available in Australia? I read about it in Spielman's book Router Jigs and Techniques

I haven't seen it anywhere. However, Spielmans dowel jig is pretty easy to make and works well. It is in his The New Router Handbook. The Precision jig is a commercial version of the Spielman Jig.

I want to make lengths of increments of 200mm, i believe the length would also be determined by the cross sectional area of the timber (ie slenderness ratio)

hello I have a small router and I have sorted a way of making 2 different size's of dowels
I use the smallest size round over cutter set so it won't cut the step then I use 14 mm
square's round all the edge's over apart from the ends (so you can keep it square ish)
they fit a 15mm hole !Nice I have made some 20 mm dowels also using the bigger cutter and bigger square's of wood in the cheap set of cutter's good luck ! hope it helps
