Freud Routers
I have just returned to Oz after living in the UK for the last 12 years. I brought my tools back with me and now I need a baseplate for my router. Unfortunately I don't know where to start looking for Freud tools here. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Den,
Freud routers are listed on the Casals website & I think they are made in spain, I'm not certain but it's worth checking out. I'm pretty sure Glendfords deal in the Casals brand & they have stores all over australia so they may be able to help, I'd try giving them a call if theres one near you.
There is also alot of universal type bases you can buy from MIK & other woodworking supply people that may screw straight onto your router & solve your problem.
If not it's pretty easy to make new bases with plastic or MDF, just make sure the centre hole ( the one the bit plunges through) is perfectly centred to the collet/bit or when you use a guide bush you will have some trouble.
Hope you get it sorted.
Cheers

Just spotted a Freud router on a website recently and yes, it looks just like my Casals router (from Glenfords) so this may be the first place to try.

the insignificant states (SA,WA,TAS & QLD). If they don't exist in NSW or VIC then they don't really exist at all !

It's called seeing how the other half lives, or "slumming" in some circles.

I agree with john austral (mate of slim dusty)
& to all the truck stops with llttle or no parking, I leave the state of victoria, to be distributed in 10 acre lots.
All the victorians are mooving to QLD with their street tyred 4wd's any way.
NSW well that just keeps victoria a safe distance away.

You're not still running that tired old line about all the Victorians moving to Qld are you ? That ended years ago, and a lot of them have moved back. I believe they described their time in Qld as something akin to time travel. (backward)

You are right about Queensland – 100’s of years behind the times. Definitely not worth the effort to visit. Best road out of Queensland is the highway to Melbourne. Please spread the word to your fellow countrymen down Mexico way so they save the fuel stocks!
The rest of you ‘banana benders’; please don’t encourage the southern visitors!

The worst thing about Queensland being north of NSW and Victoria being south is that we have to put up with Victorians travelling north to get to Queensland.
And if Queensland is so good why is it that so many come to NSW for holidays including the Premier who went to Yamba for Easter.

you are right.
Queensland is a terible place full of cane toads, mosquitos and there is a shortage of good coffie, red wine is practicaly unobtainable & the beer is rotten.
don't come, you wont like it.

Soundman,
I don't drink coffee, beer or wine and you are right about the toads and mosquitos, so rest assured I won't be coming anytime soon. You are owned by Japan now anyway aren't you ?

Queensland is definitely for the adventurous few Melbournians who shed their shackles and travel more than 50 km from home. We were almost owned by Japan in 1942 when the southern politicians established the ‘Brisbane Line’ and were prepared to allow Japan to take over the northern part of the continent. But we are a forgiving folk who welcome Victorians, Brits, Japanese tourists and southern politicians alike.
Please feel free to enjoy our time-warped backward hospitality anytime. We serve great mango juice for non-beer drinkers, best sampled under a full moon on a hot summer night in the tropical north. We call it going troppo and is a past time reserved for southerners.Mal
