Enclosed is a list of routing projects completed with the aid of the template guides. Should you wish a detailed copy as to how they were produced, constructing the necessary Jigs and Templates that are required to complete the various sections send me a PM with your request

Note; To complete any of the projects you must have access to a 'Plunge' router capable of accepting Template guides and of course the necessary guides that will be required, especially the 40mm guide
If you are interested in' Getting more from your router' Here is an opportunity to see how the use of the guides will increase the router's potential by 80%. The router table has not been used for any of the processes carried out to complete each project.

I am revisiting your CDs that I purchased from you years ago and looking at getting into some Template Routing now that I have more free time. Last weekend I was able to get another forumite to turn down and thread some 12mm bar to suit a pair of Router Skis for my Makita 3612C router and now I wish to source 40mm, 30mm & 16mm Guide Templates.

Do these TGs fit directly to the 2 screws in the base or do I need an adaptor that the TGs fit onto ?

Can you steer me to where I could buy those template guides ...I am in Brisbane.

First you have the ideal router for the many projects that can be produced with the aid of the template guides.

Yes they do fit directly on the the base with the two screws to hold them in position.

Any good tool shop that sells Makita tools will be able to order them in for you and yes get the three I recommended

Finally Once you get started using the guides do not hesitate to email me if you are having any problems

Note: Today I completed a new elliptical serving dish completely constructed with the aid of the template Guides Photograph will be posted soon

Here is my latest method of producing templates so long as there are no small radii in the design.

I just received my template guides this morning and was wondering did you modify your guides with a semi circle 'notch' on opposite edges...as seen in the attached PDF. This would allow the guide to slip over the screws then turn the guide and tighten the screws down. Avoiding the need to completely remove the screws from the base to change guides.

Constant removal of the screws could lead me to:

1) Drop and lose one of the screws on the workshop floor or

2) Ruin the thread if I cross thread the screws.

Scott I strongly recommend the small notch removal for the reasons you have mentioned I look forward to seeing some of your work using the guides

Here are samples illustrating the various designs that can be produced. In most instances the projects can be completed producing a template and removing the waste material with the bearing cutter on trhe top inserted in the router. This would be the standard procedure which would require a template for each project shaping it to suit the various designs required.

My experimentation is to see if it is possible to produce one template that was capable of producing each individual design. Not only one template but also a 'Plug' (Male template) that will enable the external edges to be produced. For the simple cut-out of the complete dish this is possible,
but for the others I had to introduce a second Template and smaller 'Plugs' when I was inserting the circular sections.

With all the above I set out to see if it is possible to complete the next seven designs using only two templates, Plug, and smaller plugs. So far I have managed to complete three designs and I am determined to see if it is possible to complete the remainder. I will post the results as I produce each in turn.

I should say at this stage I will not be using the cutter with the bearing on the top as I will be using the template guides.
Note; There is no need for a Jig to be constructed as the template can be secured to the material,
also I wll not require the aid of the band saw to start shaping the external edge. With a change of template guide and cutter the whole process can be performed with the router in the plunge mode with the plug inserted.
