    Default One more Gifkins questions

After hours of reading the forums and watching Gumby's excellent Gifkins demo I am almost convinced to part with my hard earned. But:confused: I read in one post about cutting one wider dovetail to allow for the blade kerf when you make whole boxes and saw the lid off later. Can you do this with the Gifkins or is Leigh the way to go?
    Cheers,

Roger Gifkins has developed a set of spacers specifically for that task. I know that there is a section on his website (http://www.gifkins.com.au/VARIABLE%20SPACE%20UPGRADE.htm) that talks about it (was reading it yesterday)
Have a nice day - Cheers

As has been said, the Gifkins spacers will cover it but for what it's worth, I've never bothered to get a set. I think cutting the lid later is not the best option for making a nice box, particularly one of the smaller Gifkins style. If you get a copy of the Gifkins box making booklet, you'll see what I mean. They are much better made separately, just like in the video.

    Thumbs up gifkings questions

Go for it i have used one for years 7 years, so easy to use and very tight join the only thing that you cant do is half blind dovetails unless you add a separate front to a draw, if you need a space for the kerf you can also change the template for wider spacings.
