GOF 1300 ACE Height adjustment problems
Hello,
I have just bought a second hand Bosch GOF 1300 ACE.
It is my first router and I am not sure if it is working correctly.
There is a lever that allows me to push (I assume plunge) the router down and it returns on a spring. When I let go of this lever, should the router stay at a given height? I ask because, when I plunge it all the way down then let go of the lever, it llifts back up a quarter of an inch.
Is this normal, or is this due to excessive ware or should I be able to adjust it.
Thankyou for any help,
Charlie

Hi Charliehl
I have had one of these routers (and like it very much) since new, some 12 years now I think. The plunge lever should not allow the body to rise after you let it go, however mine does slip a bit sometimes. I have got into the habit of pushing the lever hard back instead of just letting it go. That has stopped it slipping on the plunge height.
I don't know if there is any adjustment that can be made to fix it. If there is, I would be interested to hear about it.
Cheers, Alex

I have used my Brother in Law's a few times. I haven't noticed and tendency to spring back on the plunge mechanism. Not sure how to fix it though.
PeterThe other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Don't just let the lever go, push it a little more towards the body. That will lock the body in place.

Yep. The plunge brake lever is spring loaded so that the brass rod engages automatically. It is however, not designed to fix the plunge position. This is done by pushing the lever a little away from the handle.
Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

Yes it is adustable.
mine was slipping.
From memory,
undo screw holding lever onto shaft.
shaft has splines on it.
remove handle from splined shaft, rotate by one spline position.
out handle back onto splined shaft.
put screw back in.
test.
If it is worse, try 2 splines other direction.
Cheers.
