Help with routing a radius
Hi all router gurus,
hopefully I have attached a drawing of what I am trying to achieve. I am making shelves that are 18mm thick and I want to router a radius on the edges. I dont want the radius to be the same as the width of the timber, I want the radius so that is is much larger than the thickness of the timber so that I still have a sharp edge on the top and bottom of the shelves. This is probably not making any sense, so I really hope my diagram got loaded up with this so maybe someone out there will be able to help me. I am hoping that I can purchase a router bit that will do this cut.
Cheers and thanks
Darren

May I suggest the Carb-i-tool catalog here
CARB-I-TOOL
and check the "half bullnose radius bits" on page 23 .
Good luck!

G'day Darren, if you don't have a big radius bit you could do this with four passes past a saw, flip it after each pass, and use a shaped sanding block to round it.
To do this with a large router bit would take a few test runs to get it dead-centered, then do the real thing. Maybe one of these or one of these?
