Default Holy hell Batman, my Triton TRA001 just died!

So my Triton router, TRA001 has just died .

It's been a workhorse in my r/table coupled with an Incra Mast-R-Lift (first version) and the $480 I originally paid for it at Bunnies, is now easily double that, if I can find one and want to pay about $200 in postage - stuff that!

Anyone got any recommendations for a replacement router of equal capability that fits the Incra Mast-R-Lift? Until I can find something to replace it, everything comes to a stop in the shed.
I make things, I just take a long time.

A possibility, if the version 2 lift is the same 'fit' as your V 1... (caution - I don't know but presume they're the same diameter?)

INCRA JessEm Mast-R-Lift II: test with router AEG MF1400KE and Incra LS Positioner | FINE TOOLS

That's a comprehensive review that covers lift and router. It's $399 at Bunnings. I have it and rate it. Less powerful, but a nice unit, with 6 year warranty if you register... Unless you're after really massive hogging cuts all day every day, it should be pretty good?

Not sure if this is in stock as there is no mention of it not being, and exactly the same cost as your original.

Thanks for the suggestion Jpdv, but the Mast-R-Lift II is for fixed base routers only. I’m not looking for a lift plus router, just a plunge router that fits the existing lift. I couldn’t find an manuals for the original lift to find out what others routers can be used with it, presumably because it’s been superseded.

Thanks Treecycle, I did see that link when I searched. I think though the desktop view of the website had a availability stock date of 2014? So I wondered if it’s an old page that’s not been updated or something. At very least I can contact them and ask.

    Hi,
It could just be the brushes need replacing, a minor repair, have it checked before spending big bucks on a new one.
    Regards

I just did another search directly for their website and once there did a search for the Router and it came up. At the bottom of the page it says "© 2021 Robson's Tool King Store I

I saw that too 👍 I’ve sent off an email asking if they still have the TRA001 in stock at $480? In the meantime I’ve ordered new brushes from the Trition mob in England. From what my router was doing before it died and what I can find on the net, it seems the least inexpensive option to try first.

Pop the brushes out and have a look at them first. Could be a chunk broke off.

If so, clean out the debris and clean up the brush with a bit of sandpaper.

Also, the brushes are readily available on Ebay for a few dollars.

Its also a good time saver. If the destruction mashed the guts, well, its time for a new one.

I only found 1 listing on Ebay_au for brushes and they were more expensive than Triton England.

Must be the day for it, my lightly used Tra01 stoped today although it did take a tumble off the saw stools at work.
Was unable to finish today’s job as I needed to be able to run a round over bit over the stair stringer prior to install.

Wow! So I’ve got the brushes from the UK in 7 days, you can’t post a letter an it get that fast to its destination from suburb to suburb in Melbourne.

Now after work to see if the brushes are the easy answer or it might be something else. Dennis (from Triton) gave a couple of things what it could be to try and help.

Hey Chris, if you get stuck, I have one here that is still like new, probably only a couple of hours on it, can’t really remember, but I’ll be putting it up for sale, as I’ve bought some Festool routers and need to recover some money.

Think I have about 10 routers sitting here and it’s time to cull a few.
    Cheers

    DJ
