    Lightbulb Jacobs Power Collet

I don't know whether these are available in Oz yet but they're a good idea if they are all they are cracked up to be.Check them out on www.trend-lines.com Without having to use a spanner to change router bits is a good idea let alone a time saving feature in my book.Lets face it we're all for a bit of push an pull action if we don't have to tighten the nuts.
    Cheers, take care live well

    Question

I have seen this product mentioned on some US sites and the verdict was negative. I cannot recall why but I think it had something to do with bulk and inability to tighten sufficiently. The thought of a bit on the loose at 20k rpm is thought provoking.

    Unhappy

Found that site and I didn't write it down but the consensus was that the collett extended the length of the bit and was unstable, tolerances were questionable and the chance of a bit coming adrift was medium to high. The colletts are made by Jacob and are called No Wrench Colletts.
I still have not seen one but the Americans do not like them.
I find the advice is generally good and they also complain about the price US$50.00 which would probably be about $120+ by the time it arrived here.
I am not sure how it fits into the router, into the existing sleeve or in place of the sleeve.
Are two wrenches really that bad? I know I mumble a bit when I change blades but it is no worse that changing a blade on the bandsaw and easier than a blade on the tablesaw and would have to be easier than thicknesser blades.
The other point is for that money you could buy two or three new CMT blades and I would consider that a real bonus (or two new Ozito power tools )

    Thumbs up

It stands to reason Iain, that if there was anything positive to these Jacob tools then I guess we'ed be snowed under by now.I thank you for your enlightenment to this forum.
I had not seen these before hence my posting their website.
    Cheers
