Default Leigh Super Jig- Inlaid Dovetail result

Here are some photos of my first attempt at an inlaid dovetail on my new Leigh Jig. The species include; Silky Oak for the sides/ends and Mahogany for the inlay. It took a little bit of fine adjustment but otherwise came together quite easily. I have started another box today which incorporates these joints. Just having fun trying to make asymetrical dovetails (using both ends of the jig) so I can make one tail 4mm bigger to allow for the saw kerf when I cut the lid off. Joy!!

Sorry about the picture quality- I only used my mobile phone.

    Cheers, Matt

    Matt,

Your focus point was on the jig and not on the work. Try taking the picture a little farther away. When the shot is blown up the wood will be in focus and we get a better view of what looks to be a very nice job. It doesn't matter if the original picture needs a little cropping to get rid of details that aren't interesting. Using silky oak does a good job of giving the object texture and emphasising the joint. Besides, it is a pretty wood.
