looking for a special router bit
Hi,
I need a wide flat base ogee (or similar) plunge or groove bit. Specifically to match kitchen doors manufactured five or six years ago, the original maker has disappeared. I have source a new manufacturer, but their bit doesn't quite match. I have tried Carbatech, carb-i-tool and a few other manufacturers. Can anybody suggest who else I could call in OZ to find one?
The pattern itself is 10mm deep, 10mm wide on the flat base, 20 mm wide at the radius point and 38mm at the top. I can't measure the radius. I'm not expecting anybody to say "I have one" but if anybody else could suggest somewhere else to look for one, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!!
Rich.

Try looking at some of the imported bits on Ebay.

Try a toolmaker, they can make custom shape bits.
I used to use a bloke (long retired by now) his custom made bits were cheaper than similar Carbitool bits.

Try one bit for the bottom and a diffrent one for the top of the profile
I once had to use three diffrent bits for a frofile on some matching cabnits I made

Rich, Infinity Tools in USA have a system called Insert-Pro here:
http://www.infinitytools.com/departments.asp?dept=1237
It may have the flexibility you need to get a specific shape.
The Australian distributor is www.northwoodtools.com.au but they don't seem to mention the insert-pro system on the web site. Might be worth asking them if they have it.
Hope that helps.
