    What's a good price? $400 ? not that good for cash strapped woodies. The mactec has it's place as a light duty hand held router. So far mine is running fine

    A few places are selling the Makita for $388.00 some special promo from Makita, now that's a gooooood price!! Total Tools Braeside Vic had them <$400.

    see attached pic for where i had a problem.
    the internal threaded height adjustment tube split at the bottom.
    it doesnt worry me too much because i think i will make a new one with a flip out winding handle on top.
    its very boring turning it up and down the full length using the knob at top.

    i paid $220 at Total Tools, Geelong.
    the Makita single speed was nearly $400, the Makita variable speed was $500.

    i was able to get a Leigh bush adapter to fit it which was great,
    now i don't have to change the base.
    I have been using it quite a bit and i like it.
    easy to change bits.
    good solid guide fence bars.
    plunge action is fairly smooth.
    only the power switch really worries me as i said before.
    otherwise happy, i love the easy to manage size and weight.
