Makita 3600br
I am about to change the bearings in my old Makita 3600BR and am getting prices for new bearings online.
I saw in a forum a comment that you can buy equivalent bearings easilly?
Is that true or am I better off with the genuine Makita parts 6200DDW & 6201DDW?
Somewhere near 2233 in Sydney.
Thanks for any ideas, I appreciate your help and experience!

Just pull them out and go to your local bearing supplier and get the same. The numbers you have quoted are standard bearing numbers. I have always done this and never had a problem. I wouldn't buy Chinese, make sure that they are Australian made.

Personally I would be sticking with quality brand bearings with matching part numbers. Remember that the router runs at 20,000 RPM or more, bearings that match size wise, but with a variation in the number may have the same seals, dimensions etc, but not the speed rating. Used to find this a lot with model plane/boat engines, people would get a 'cheaper' dimensionally matching bearing to save $5.00 then whinge when the retainer let go at 15K RPM and sent bits of bearing through the motor and destroying it and possibly a model as well.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
